Performance Review

The Amyet V9-G60 comes with a 1000-watt brushless motor with peak power output of 1500 watts, ensuring a thrilling experience across different terrains. The e-bike offers three distinct riding modes: pure electric, 5-level pedal assist, and regular cycling. While the pedal-assist mode relies on a cadence sensor, which doesn’t provide the instant responsiveness of the torque sensors found in higher-end models, it still offers a solid and enjoyable ride.

Performance Summary

Acceleration (0 to 20 mph)

Braking Distance (20 to 0 mph)

Acceleration

As I said before, the G60 is a 1500W peak e-bike. It’s important for the buyers to understand that peak power refers to the maximum output a motor can briefly achieve whereas nominal power indicates the sustained output capability. In the case of the G60, while it boasts a peak power of 1500W, the nominal rating of its rear motor is 1000W.

During my testing, the G60 demonstrated remarkable acceleration capabilities, achieving a speed of 20 mph within just 13 seconds. Considering the bike’s weight of 77 pounds, this level of performance is quite impressive. This accelerating time came out on a flat and relatively smooth road with moderate wind conditions.

Top Speed

Riding the Amyet V9-G60 was pure joy. On flat urban roads, the bike touched a maximum speed of 32.1 mph – exceeding Class 3 regulations of 28 mph. Given the bike’s weight and price, this kind of speed is beyond impressive. However, please note that riding at this speed on public roads is illegal in every state. The maximum speed allowed under law is 28 mph, that too is applicable in some states.

Suspension

The Amyet V9-G60 boasts a full suspension system, comprising both front and rear shocks. The rear shock absorber may not be the best, but its presence does improve ride comfort, no matter little. The front shock is good. Also, you have 4-inch fat tires and the plush saddle. So, all in all, the G60 effectively absorbs bumps and delivers a perfectly cushioned ride.

Ride Quality

The Amyet V9-G60 offers a remarkably comfortable riding experience. The bike’s balanced weight distribution enhances stability on various terrains, while the ergonomic frame geometry and riding posture contribute to overall comfort. The ride is totally smooth, thanks to its 4-inch fat tires, dual suspension system, and generously cushioned saddle.

In terms of handling, the G60 performs quite well, providing responsive steering. Although the cadence sensor might not be as quick to respond as the more expensive torque sensors found in higher-end models, this is a reasonable trade-off considering the G60’s budget-friendly price. The slight delay in power engagement is not noticeable for most riders.

Hill Climb

During my tests across various terrains, the Amyet V9-G60 demonstrated solid performance on inclines. It managed every hill efficiently, providing a steady and reliable climb. Even on steep slopes, it didn’t struggle a bit. The ride was equally capable – whether I used pedal assist or relied solely on the throttle. Compared to other models in its class, the G60’s hill climbing ability is commendable and almost impossible to rival. It outperformed the Engwe M20… and I believe it is a great choice for riders who frequently encounter moderate hills.

Braking

The Amyet V9-G60 features dual mechanical brakes. I did not conduct a brake-distance test, but my initial impressions of the bike’s braking performance were good. The brakes exhibit adequate stopping power. However, given the G60’s speed capabilities, weight, and off-road usage, I would have preferred hydraulic brakes over mechanical ones. But considering the bike’s price, you really can’t complain.

Range

Range is one of the strongest points of this bike. You can find many fat moped ebikes at comparable prices, but you can’t find one that comes with a 48V 20Ah (960Wh) Lithium-ion power plant. During testing, I covered a distance of 31.8 miles using a combination of throttle and PAS 5 – traversing both flat road stretches and hilly terrain. Considering the bike’s 1000W nominal power output, substantial weight, and budget-friendly price tag, this range is amazing. On lower assist settings and on flat terrain, you can expect to cover more ground.

Transmission

The Amyet V9-G60 is equipped with a seven-speed Shimano transmission. Shifting between gears was totally smooth and effortless, however, at higher speeds, I encountered some ghost pedaling. Ghost pedaling is a common issue associated with high-speed bikes. It is more noticeable as the bike exceeds 25 mph… and can only be solved by using an 8 or 9-speed gear set. Otherwise, an alternative is to use the throttle at high speeds, as it allows riders to bypass pedaling altogether and rely solely on electric propulsion.
