Best Electric Bikes Under 1000

Let us now discuss each of these options in detail. I’ll be reviewing the main features of each eBike, along with the reasons to buy and avoid it.

Lectric XP™ 2.0 Black – Best Electric Bike Under 1000

Lectric XP™ 2.0 Black - Best Electric Bike Under 1000

Cons

Best Deal

The Lectric XP 2.0 Black is one of the best electric bikes under 1000 dollars RN. Don’t get any wrong ideas from the budget tag… it rivals many high-end eBikes in performance and features.

Still in doubt? Read on.

For starters, the 500W brushless hub motor packs enough muscle to traverse the most difficult of tracks with ease. Add to that the option to seamlessly switch between 5 different levels of pedal assist and full throttle – and you’re guaranteeing yourself a great experience.

You also have an impressive 7-gear drivetrain to assume full control over your ride. Moreover, the 3” fat tires and front fork suspension ensure that the ride stays smooth and comfortable no matter the terrain.

The frame is incredibly sturdy, the build quality is nice, and the finishing is top-notch.

Honestly, it’s hard to find any problems with this eBike (except that I wish Lectric had used 4” tires to allow for more rugged off-roading, but I guess they tried to strike a balance between off-roading and nimbleness).

As a slight downside, the range of the XP 2.0 can vary based on the amount of weight on top of it. So, while you have a stunning payload capacity, you can expect the mileage to drop a bit under heavy loads. The range on throttle mode drops to as low as 20 miles.

Fortunately, there’s an option to purchase a larger battery pack which can provide more range – but it means parting with more Dolla Dolla bills.

Anyways, to sum up, if you’re looking for an all-rounder fat tire electric bike that doesn’t ditch nimbleness for off-road capability and also doesn’t put a massive hole in your wallet, the XP 2.0 can be a good option to consider.

Rad Power Bikes RadMission – Best Reliable eBike Under $1000

Rad Power Bikes RadMission - Best Value eBike Under $1000

Award: Best Reliable eBike Under $1000

Specs

  • Motor: 48V 500W brushless geared rear hub
  • Battery: 48V 10.5Ah (504Wh) Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 20mph (32km/h)
  • Range: 24-45 miles (40-72km)
  • Weight: 48lbs (22kg)
  • Wheel Size: 27.5”

Pros

  • Lightweight Al frame
  • Height adjustable seat
  • Available as high & mid-step
  • Dependable and durable
  • Smooth power delivery
  • Top-notch handling

Cons

  • No gears; single-speed drivetrain
  • No suspension
  • No speed and distance display
  • Fenders and kickstand sold separately

Best Deal

Yes, it’s a Rad. Yes, it costs less than $1000.

Well actually, you’re in for luck as the RadMission is on sale right now for $899. And, honestly, if you buy it, it will be the best $899 you have always spent.

The cheapest Rad on the market, the RadMission provides immense value for money. Coming from an eBike brand that’s universally known for quality, safety, reliability, and durability, this is a ride you can rely on, always! And like other Rads, it’s meant to last FOREVER!

The RadMission is fairly lightweight (as it features Rad’s lightest battery unit at 7lbs) and handles incredibly well.

And since safety has been a trademark for Rad, you can expect everything from a sturdy Aluminum frame to puncture-resistant tires to all-weather brakes with power cut-off levers to the auto-on head and tail lights.

To top it all, you also get those million-dollar looks!

But, unfortunately, Rad had to make a few sacrifices to let you have the premium ‘Rad’ experience in a budget tag.

The RadMission comes with no suspension of any kind (including the seat post) and has a single-speed drivetrain. It means with this eBike, you’re kind of limited to just flat urban roads. It also lacks speed and distance display.

The thing I found the most surprising is that Rad decided not to include a kickstand in the price tag and instead sell it separately for $10. I wonder what’s the wisdom behind it. Tbh, it seems a pretty cheap shot to me.

Likewise, the fenders would set you back another $40.

Still, all things considered, the RadMission is one of the best electric bikes under $1000 and provides an unparalleled value for money.

Engwe C20 Pro – Best 20” Electric Bike Under 1000 Dollars

best electric bikes/ ebikes under $1000

Award: Best 20” Electric Bike Under 1000 Dollars

Specs

  • Motor: 48V 500W brushless rear hub
  • Battery: 48V 10Ah Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 15.5mph (25km/h)
  • Range: 25 miles (40km) max
  • Weight: 55lbs (25kg)
  • Wheel Size: 20”

Pros

  • Quick folding aluminum alloy frame
  • 3” knobby multi-purpose tires
  • Powerful motor with 850W peak output
  • Hidden but removable battery
  • Large LCD instrument to monitor ride
  • Superb 330lbs (150kg) load capacity
  • Front suspension fork for smooth rides

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with fenders

Best Deal

The Engwe C20 Pro provides a good balance between power, range, and comfort… and comes at a really affordable cost.

While it has a capable motor, the 48V 10Ah battery is a bit too small than what you’d want to have. Luckily, you have the option to go the other way around – that’s take a smaller 350W motor but a larger 36V 19.2Ah battery, and cruise for as long as you want.

I like the battery placement a LOT! I also like the 3” anti-puncture tires and the front mechanical spring fork, both of which allow you to enjoy mild off-roading as well.

However, what I like the most is the compact build and quick-folding design that lets you store or carry this bike anywhere – including public transportation. The frame is made from light yet strong aluminum alloy and can endure up to 330lbs of (150kg) load.

The dual disc brakes (combined with anti-skid tires) let you stop on a dime in any weather condition. Other features include 7-speed Shimano gears and a large and user-friendly LCD instrument.

All in all, it provides a great value for money and is one of the best electric bikes under $1000 right now!

Ancheer 350W – Best 26” Electric Bike Under $1000

best electric bikes/ ebikes under $1000Award: Best 26” Electric Bike Under $1000

Specs

  • Motor: 36V 350W brushless rear hub
  • Battery: 36V 10.4Ah Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 20mph (32km/h)
  • Range: 20-40 miles (32-64km) max
  • Weight: 50lbs (23kg)
  • Wheel Size: 26”

Pros

  • Exceptional rating on Amazon
  • Class-leading Shimano 21 gears
  • Excellent torque output of 50Nm
  • Lightweight aluminum alloy frame
  • High-strength front suspension fork
  • Removable battery for easy charging
  • Comfortable saddle

Cons

  • No fenders and rear light
  • LED display

Best Deal

The Ancheer 350W is one of the best rated electric bikes under $1000 on Amazon, and there’s a good reason for that. It has a powerful motor capable of generating 50Nm, a sturdy aluminum frame, and a class-leading Shimano 21-speed transmission… and it costs under $600.

The removable battery is placed on the downtube to balance the overall weight and keep the ride as stable as possible.

Even though mid-drive eBikes are the safest and most efficient mountain climbers due to their low center of gravity and high torque output… but if you’re really tight on budget, this Ancheer eBike can be the way to go.

Besides hill climbing, it also allows use on gravel and other off-road terrains, thanks to its anti-skid knobby tires. You also have a high-strength front suspension fork to smoothly sail on rugged terrains.

The powertrain is efficient and you can get a reasonable mileage in assisted mode.

Being a budget bike, the Ancheer 350W is not without its downsides, but when you sum up everything, it comes out as one of the best 26” electric bikes under $1000 you can buy right now.

Miclon Macmission 100 – Best 27.5” Electric Bike Under 1000

Award: Best 27.5” Electric Bike Under 1000 Dollars

Specs

  • Motor: 36V 350W brushless rear hub

  • Range: 28-44 miles (45-70km) max

Pros

  • 4 Amp fast charging
  • Remarkable ride handling
  • Lightweight aluminum alloy frame
  • Reliable dual disc brakes
  • Stylish look with sports fenders

Cons

  • Rigid front fork; no suspension

Best Deal

If you’re looking for a stylish and capable city electric bike under 1000 dollars, the Miclon Macmission 100 can be worth considering.

It has a sturdy frame made of high-quality and lightweight aluminum alloy and has a reasonable net weight. The 350W motor is not the best hill climber but when you factor in 7-speed Shimano gears, you get a good capability on inclines.

And though you don’t have suspension, the large 27.5” tires can easily roll over every city bump and pothole that lie in your way, ensuring a good experience.

Moving on, the removable Lithium battery is quite efficient and you can expect to cross 40 miles on the lowest pedal-assist level under ideal conditions. A notable feature is the 4 Amp fast charger that saves you a lot of time by juicing up the battery in 2.5 to 3 hours.

The Macmission 100 doesn’t boast crazy numbers but it can reliably transport you from A to B in an affordable tag – and that’s what makes it one of the best electric bikes under $1000 out there.

  • Battery: 48V 23.2Ah Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 15.5mph (25km/h)
  • Range: 124 miles (200km) max

  • Wheel Size: 14”

Pros

  • Lightweight folding frame
  • Stunning 330lbs max load
  • Height adjustable seat and stem
  • Comes with saddle suspension
  • Comes with a rear rack
  • Cellphone holder with USB charger

Cons

  • Styling is not great
  • No gears; single-speed drivetrain

Best Deal

Disclaimer: I really like this eBike – so I might be a bit biased with this one. Ok, a lot biased.

Also, for this one, let me first count down the downsides, and then explain why it offers a true bang for your buck.

So, the downsides?

Well, it has a single-speed drivetrain, which means you can’t gear down when you need more power, and can’t gear up when you need more speed. You’ll always be stuck in one gear, forever!

It can be problematic for people who encounter steep ascents and descents in their commute. But for all other urban commuters, it’s not that big a problem.

Another downside is the styling (which is pretty terrible, tbh). But that’s it for the downsides – it’s all pros from here.

The L3 has a compact and lightweight frame that folds within seconds into a tiny package, a sturdy rear rack, a cellphone holder with a USB charger, height adjustable seat & stem, and a snug seat post with saddle suspension to haul you in absolute comfort as you visit the places you never had before.

Speaking of which, let’s come to why the L3 is one of the best electric bikes under 1000 dollars.

It might be hard to believe, but this tiny thing can let you cruise up to 200 LONG kilometers on pedal assist, thanks to a gigantic 48V 23.2Ah (1,114Wh) Lithium powerpack.

Yes, it comes out at more than 120 miles. And no, I’m not kidding!

The folks at Fiido even claim that it can manage an additional 50km mileage when used by a rider weighing below the average 75kg (165lb) adult.

Even if you consider that an exaggeration, the 200km mileage is still unheard of in eBikes under 1000 dollars. The range at full throttle drops to 130km (80 miles).

Did you call it low? You better hope I don’t see you outside!

Heybike Cityscape – Best Stylish eBike Under $1000

Heybike Cityscape - One of the best ebikes under $1000

Award: Best Stylish Electric Bike Under 1000

Specs

  • Motor: 36V 350W brushless rear hub
  • Battery: 36V 10Ah Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 19mph (30km/h)
  • Range: 40 miles (64km) max
  • Weight: 58.4lbs (26.5kg)
  • Wheel Size: 26”

Pros

  • Leather handgrips and saddle
  • Removable battery with USB port
  • Height adjustable seat post
  • Great shock absorption
  • Low step-through frame
  • Comes with a rear rack

Cons

  • Average build quality

Best Deal

Every electric bike can move you from point A to B, but not every bike can do it with as much style as the Heybike Cityscape. Featuring a leather saddle and leather-covered handgrips, this eBike and the person riding it are sure to turn every head.

Elegant styling, top-notch looks, and a formidable road presence make the Cityscape one of the most attractive eBikes under 1000 dollars on the market today.

The step-through frame not just looks good, but is also easy to mount and get off. And if all that’s not enough, you also get a sturdy rear rack with a load capacity of 100lbs.

The overall payload capacity isn’t bad either.

You also get a suspension front fork as well as a seat post suspension to make sure no bump, pothole, or surface undulation can make your ride unpleasant. The seat post is height adjustable to accommodate all riders.

As another tiny but useful feature, the battery pack comes with a USB port for charging your mobile on the go. And since the battery itself is removable, you can charge it both in or out of the frame.

The Heybike Cityscape is one of the best electric bikes under $1000 and I can hardly point a finger at anything.

The only downside (if I must point one) is that you can’t take it off the road or fold it to throw in your car trunk. Other than that, it’s a cool ride!

  • Weight: 46lbs (21kg)

Pros

  • Foldable and lightweight
  • Comes with a free bike lock
  • Phone mount and charging port included
  • Backlit, heads-up LCD display
  • Hidden yet removable battery
  • IP65-rated electrical components

Cons

  • Single speed gear
  • No suspension

Best Deal

Looking for an even cheaper Lectric than the XP 2.0? The XP Lite Sandstorm offers the core features of the XP 2.0 while being a lighter, more portable option at just under $800.

Weighing 46 pounds, taking it from one place to another is fairly easy. Add to that the fact that it’s foldable and you’ve got yourself quite the steal.

Its 300W brushless hub motor is not the mightiest – but has enough power to decently move you from point A to B. The 7.8Ah Lithium-ion powerpack is one of the most efficient for its size, and you can expect a maximum range of 35-40 miles on the lowest level of pedal assist.

While the XP Lite Sandstorm is a great option for city commutes, it’s not suited for any other terrain due to a number of factors.

For starters, it uses single-speed gears – which means you can’t gear down on ascents or gear up on descents. There’s no suspension on this eBike either, though you have the option to upgrade to a giant seat with saddle suspension for just $99.

And while you’re at it, why not upgrade to the Carry Package for another $99 and get a front rack, rear rack, and pannier bag to haul all those groceries, and more! It will still be under $1000!

Sounds like a deal, now?

So if you’re looking for an eBike to transport you and your gear on a budget, I highly recommend the XP Lite Sandstorm with the Carry Package. For under $1000, you’ll get features that you usually get in bikes costing twice as much.

Oh, and I almost forgot that I absolutely adore the 2.4” tires Lectric has used on this eBike!

Ecotric 20” Fat – Best 20” All-Terrain eBike Under 1000

Ecotric 20” Fat - Best All-Terrain Foldable eBike Under 1000

Award: Best 20” All-Terrain eBike Under 1000 Dollars

Specs

  • Motor: 36V 500W brushless geared rear hub
  • Battery: 36V 12.5Ah Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 20mph (32km/h)
  • Range: 36 miles (58km) max
  • Weight: 56lbs (25kg)
  • Wheel Size: 20”

Pros

  • Adjustable handlebar, seat & pedals
  • 4” anti-skid all-terrain tires
  • Quick folding frame
  • Comes with a security lock
  • Push mode available
  • Shimano 7-speed derailleur

Cons

  • No suspension
  • Long charging time (6-8 hrs)
  • Low 200lbs payload capacity

Best Deal

With a stellar value for money, the Ecotric 20” is one of the best fat tire electric bikes under $1000.

It’s a portable option with a quick folding mechanism and an absolutely tiny folded size. Even the upper tube, handlebar stem, and pedals are foldable besides the main frame, allowing you to tuck it into the most compact of spaces.

Another great thing is that you can adjust the seat, handlebar, and pedals to your liking for a perfectly comfy and snug experience. I mean the kind of customizability you get with this fat tire bike is just insane.

The 500W brushless geared hub motor has enough torque to let you climb fairly steep hills. The battery life is also acceptable for the price point. You get 15-20 miles on the throttle and around 25-35 miles on the pedal assist.

One feature I really like is the booster mode that lets you push the bike along with you at 3.7mph (6km/h).

However, the best thing about this eBike is its 20×4-inch all-terrain fat tires that make sure nothing is inaccessible to you. Thanks to an anti-skid tread, the tires don’t lose traction on snow, sand, dirt, mud, gravel, or any other kind of tricky terrain. They’re just the best.

As for the downsides, this eBike takes a long time to charge – which is weird considering the average mileage. It also lacks suspension, which is also weird for a bike made for off-roading. But fortunately, the 4” fat tires somewhat make up for that.

The most sh*tty thing, however, is that it has a surprisingly low payload capacity of just 200lbs!

Anyways, if you have average or below-average weight, you can consider the Ecotric 20” as a good all-terrain foldable eBike under $1000.

  • Cool sports fenders
  • Integrated, bright lights

Cons

  • Few pedal-assist levels

Best Deal

The Vivi 26” Fat is a great solution for those looking to defeat ruggedness on a budget. With a capable 500W motor, a 7-speed transmission, a sturdy suspension fork, massive 4” fat tires, and an absolutely stellar value for money, the Vivi 26” Fat is one of the best all-terrain electric bikes under $1000.

The best thing about this eBike is, hands down, its undefeated tires. They have an anti-puncture liner, a wear-resistant build, and a skid-resistant knobby texture. To top it off, they measure 26 BIG INCHES in diameter – which means there would be no obstacle they can’t roll over.

In short, with this bike as your partner, you can dare to go anywhere you want! And that includes snow, sand, dirt, mud, gravel, or whatever mother nature throws in your way.

Among other notable features, it has a remarkable payload capacity of 330lbs and handles really well. The overall exterior is kind of normal, but sports fenders look awesome.

The only notable downside is that you get 3 levels in pedal assist, so you can’t expect to finely tune your motor power as you can do with bikes that have 4 or 5 levels. But seriously, dude… what about the rest of the features you’re getting?

Cons

  • Not suitable for riders above 5’10”
  • Small battery
  • No fenders

Best Deal

If you’re looking for a light and super-compact ride that you can easily carry up to your 3rd floor apartment or to the metro, the Swagtron EB7 Elite Plus is what you’re after.

This mini eBike weighs about 19kg and is one of the smallest options you can get on the market. You can fold it to minimal dimensions of 29.5×16.5×25.9” (75x42x66cm) and store it anywhere you want.

Even moving it around in an unfolded state is extremely easy, thanks to a nice little carry handle provided in the frame. Speaking of which, the frame is extremely stylish… and you also have one-piece wheels to stand apart.

Another interesting feature is that it comes with a rear suspension instead of front fork. Other features include disc brakes, 7-speed gears, LCD display, and integrated lights.

As for the downsides, it has a payload capacity of 265lbs (120kg) and is unsuitable for tall riders. The powertrain is quite humble, and the 230.4Wh battery is too small even for the budget tag it has.

But if you can look past that, the EB7 Elite Plus can be a great last-mile solution.

Nakto Camel City – Best Women Electric Bike Under $1000

Nakto Camel City - One of the best electric bikes under $1000

Award: Best Women Electric Bike Under $1000

Specs

  • Motor: 36V 350W brushless rear hub
  • Battery: 36V 10.4Ah Lithium-ion
  • Top speed: 25mph (40km/h)
  • Range: 35 miles (56km) max
  • Weight: 72lbs (32.5kg)
  • Wheel Size: 26”

Pros

  • Comes with a rear rack and front basket
  • Low step-through frame
  • Attractive exterior
  • Easily removable battery
  • Great front suspension

Cons

  • Not lightweight

Best Deal

Featuring a low step-through frame, attractive exterior paint, and killer styling overall, the Nakto Camel City is one of the best electric bikes under $1000 for women.

And if you think it’s all looks, you might be wrong. With comfort, utility, and performance – it’s way more than that!

For starters, the 350W brushless rear hub motor packs enough torque to decently move you across the city with a max payload of 250lbs. The mileage might drop a bit with the load but will still be adequate for short grocery runs, all week!

Speaking of which, did I mention that this eBike comes with a front basket and rear rack? No? Well, it does. It has all other niceties as well that you might want in a city ride.

Another great thing I like about the Nakto Camel City is its sturdy front suspension fork, which makes sure you can have comfortable (and therefore longer) rides.

But how can it offer so much for just $799? Umm, yes… it has a couple of downsides.

The biggest no-no is that at 72lbs, it’s not so lightweight. And since it’s also not foldable, you can just forget about carrying it to your 3rd-floor apartment – and store it somewhere else, maybe on the ground floor, eh?

If you can do that, the Camel City is a great eBike for under 1000 dollars.

  • Stylish one-piece wheels
  • Reliable dual disc brakes
  • Folding frame, removable battery
  • Features fenders and rear seat

Cons

  • Iron frame
  • Single-speed drivetrain
  • No LCD screen

Best Deal

When it comes to value for money, the Engwe T14 is one of the best eBikes under $1000. Well, actually, it’s way under $1000 – almost half way down!

Yet, it offers an unbelievable set of features. The motor peaks at 680W, the super-efficient battery gives you a whopping range (for the price point), and you have a unique quadruple suspension (front fork, rear wheel dual shocks, center shock, and saddle spring).

The saddle is wide and padded, and you also have a passenger seat in the rear. Moving on, you have a folding frame, a removable battery, fenders, and one-piece wheels.

As for the downsides, the T14 lacks gears and LCD display; you can only monitor battery by an LED meter. Moreover, the frame is made of iron, so its weight is on the higher end.

But what it offers is still way more than it should, for the price tag. It’s the perfect package of power, range, comfort, and utility… and is hands down one of the best electric bikes under $1000 when it comes to value for money.

  • Removable battery pack
  • Front suspension fork

Cons

  • Single-speed drivetrain
  • Outdated caliper brakes

Best Deal

If you’re thinking why I have added an eBike that misses so many things, it’s just because it’s from a reliable brand and looks great. Yep, that’s pretty much it!

Still want to know more?

Well, the Hurley Thruster is a road electric bike for those who want to keep things simple, neat, and low-maintenance.

The absence of gears can be a dealbreaker for many, but if you plan to stick to flat roads and nothing else, it wouldn’t be a problem. Luckily, you have a suspension in the front to tackle potholes and bumps.

The powertrain is efficient but very humble, which ironically justifies the use of outdated caliper brakes.

Among the upsides, you have a removable battery, massive 27.5×2.1” Innova PRO Atria tires to roll over everything, a sleek LCD, and a bright headlamp. The biggest reason why you might want this ride is an affordable entry into the Hurley club!

Pros

  • Fast charging, fully recharged in just 3 hours
  • Remarkable handling
  • Powerful Bafang motor, rated at 50Nm
  • Lightweight Aluminum frame
  • Sturdy front fork suspension

Cons

  • Limited range on full throttle

Best Deal

If you’re looking for an electric mountain bike under 1000 dollars, the Miclon Cybertrack 100 can be it. For just $800, this eBike is cool beyond words – and it only takes a look to see why that’s so.

Built from a high-quality aluminum alloy, the frame is sturdier than one would expect. The net weight is also quite reasonable at 50lbs.

The 350W Bafang motor rated at 50Nm of torque allows you to traverse inclinations with ease and is truly a game-changer. Whether you’re making use of the electric assist or full throttle, it will get the job done.

The battery offers a range of around 30 miles and comes equipped with numerous protection mechanisms against overcharging and the external environment. The range, however, can drop to as much as 15-20 miles on full throttle or while hauling heavy loads.

The Cybertrack 100 may not be the best mountain climber, but it’s surely the best you can get for under $1000. It handles well and has a remarkably balanced ride.

Though not meant for hardcore off-roading, the 26’’ anti-slip tires work fairly well on gravel, dirt, and mountain trails. Likewise, the front suspension fork is also capable of absorbing all impacts from any undulated terrain, making Cybertrack 100 the best electric mountain bike under 1000 dollars.

  • Range: 50 miles (80km) max
  • Weight: 41lbs (18.5kg)
  • Wheel Size: 20”

Pros

  • Compact and lightweight
  • Foldable build
  • Adjustable seat
  • Long range
  • Fenders included

Cons

  • Slower; a bit underpowered

Best Deal

Designed for urban use, the Fiido D4S offers a wide range of features – all for a price tag of $799.

It’s built from a lightweight Aluminum alloy and has a net weight of just 18.5kg (along with the battery). To top it off, it folds within seconds with a quick, single-step mechanism. The folded size is so tiny that storing or carrying it can never be a concern for you.

I mean it’s insanely portable!

You can easily take it up a flight of stairs, carry it inside a metro, or throw it in your boot. It’s one of the best folding electric bikes under 1000 dollars on the market, right now!

Besides the portability, another thing I like about this eBike is the range it offers.

Using a 36V 10.4Ah Lithium battery, the D4S provides a max assisted range of 50 miles (80km). This number reduces when the bike is at full throttle or under heavy load.

But even the reduced range is remarkable for an electric bike under $1000.

One important thing to keep in mind is that the D4S wasn’t designed for off-road travel by any means and its 20’’ tires are meant for smooth asphalt alone. There’s no suspension either – which shouldn’t be a problem as long as you’re on-road.

  • Range: 20 miles (32km)
  • Weight: 56lbs (25kg)
  • Wheel Size: 20”

Pros

  • 4” all-terrain fat tires
  • Quick folding frame
  • Dual suspension system
  • Removable battery pack
  • Adjustable, removable seat

Cons

  • No LCD display
  • Low mileage
  • No fenders and lights

Best Deal

If you’re looking for a fat tire eBike that can also accompany you on your camping trips, the Swagtron EB8 Outlaw is the one for you.

It has 20×4” all-terrain knobby fat tires to let you explore whatever you fancy and can be folded within seconds. The most notable thing is the dual suspension system that (when combined with fat tires) gives you a smooth and comfortable ride, no matter where you are.

The 350W powertrain is complemented by a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain to let you perform better on inclines and hills, but the battery is too small to get a meaningful range.

Among other downsides, you have an LED meter instead of the LCD display, the maximum payload is abysmal at 265lbs (120kg), and you don’t even get lights and fenders.

But since Swagtron is one of the most trusted budget eBike manufacturers, you can consider this folding fat tire bike… it still provides an excellent value for money!

  • 21-speed transmission
  • Removable Lithium pack
  • Load capacity of 330lbs (150kg)
  • Dual suspension for smooth rides
  • Cool sports-style fenders
  • Adjustable handlebar

Cons

  • Small battery
  • LED meter

Best Deal

If you live near a mountain or hill and you’re very, very short on budget and you don’t have a garage to store your bike (that’s a lot of ifs, btw), this electric bike can be what you’re after.

I’d never recommend a folding bike for traveling on hills, but as I said, it can be a super-cheap solution to all of your problems I mentioned above. Don’t expect the performance of a $4k eMTB though… it will help you on inclines and that’s pretty much it.

The motor is rather small, and the battery is too small… but it’s the 21-speed transmission that actually does the job! Other notable features include dual suspension, a removable battery pack, an adjustable handlebar, a bright headlamp, and sports-style fenders.

It’s difficult to fathom how well spec’d this bike is, at a tag of just over $500. Not the best quality… but worth way more than the tag!

  • Weight: 67lbs (30kg)
  • Wheel Size: 26”

Pros

  • Faster than most competitors
  • Sturdy frame
  • Adjustable seats
  • Shimano 21S variable speed
  • Comes with a USB charging port

Cons

  • Heavier than most eBikes

Best Deal

As an electric bike under 1000 dollars, the Samebike SM26 is a force to be reckoned with. Speed, style, comfort, it offers it all!

The first thing that catches your eye is the slick design. Safe to say, the slim aluminum alloy frame paired with vibrant colors will definitely make you and your eBike stand out in the crowd.

The 350-watt brushless motor is fairly capable of assisting on roads with mild elevation. And the 48V 10Ah Lithium-ion battery is pretty great too.

It may not be the largest unit but it still manages up to 50 miles per charge on the lowest pedal assist level, thanks to an efficient internal design. The mileage drops under high speeds, but you’ll be fine as long as you don’t use throttle all the time.

The SM26 is one of the best electric bikes under 1000 dollars, but it does have some limitations.

It’s more on the heavier side and isn’t foldable either – so the portability isn’t its forte. And though it has front suspension, I’d not recommend using it for off-roading especially if you weigh more than average.

Still, if you’re looking for an eBike under $1000 to venture out into the urban environment, the SM26 cannot be ignored.

Ancheer 16” – Best Budget Foldable Electric Bike Under 1000

Ancheer 16” - Best Budget Foldable Electric Bike Under 1000

Award: Best Budget Foldable Electric Bike Under 1000

Specs

  • Motor: 36V 250W brushless rear hub

  • Range: 30 miles (48km) max
  • Weight: 47.3lbs (21.5kg)
  • Wheel Size: 16”

Pros

  • Foldable
  • Adjustable seat
  • Lightweight Al frame
  • Super-budget option
  • 3 modes (throttle, pedal assist, cycling)

Cons

  • Lacks suspension
  • Single-speed gear
  • Lacks LCD display

Best Deal

At just under $500, the Ancheer 16” is one of the cheapest eBikes on the market. It may not be the best ride out there, but it’s worth every cent of its super-budget tag.

The 250W motor provides adequate power for most commutes with speeds up to 15mph.

The biggest compromise comes in the range though. It can cruise up to 30 miles before requiring another recharge. However, the range drops to 15 miles when on full throttle – and a bit more when used by riders weighing more than average.

As for portability, it weighs about 21.5kg and is one of the smallest options on the market. And since it’s foldable as well, you can take it anywhere with you or store it anywhere you want.

Besides the low mileage, another thing that I don’t like about this eBike is that its handlebars are not height adjustable, though the seat is. This may lead to some ergonomically uncomfortable positions, especially for tall riders.

As for other downsides, it lacks any form of suspension (which is understandable, considering the tag) as well as speed and distance display. Moreover, it is a single-speed bike and you won’t be able to switch between gears.

Still, despite all its flaws, the Ancheer 16” is a great option as an eBike that sets you back just $500. It may not be the best eBike for adults, but it’s perfect for teens and college students as a lightweight, super-portable campus ride.

  • Weight: 55lbs (25kg)
  • Wheel Size: 20”

Pros

  • Outstanding mileage
  • Adjustable seat
  • Quick folding frame
  • All-terrain anti-skid fat tires
  • Stellar dual suspension
  • 7-speed wide-range derailleur

Cons

  • Long charging time
  • Not too capable

Best Deal

With a tag of just under $1000, the Fiido M1 is the best option for those looking for a folding fat tire eBike with long mileage.

What makes it different from its competitors?

Well, while most fat tire eBikes in this price point offer a max range of 35 miles on a single charge, the Fiido M1 can go up to 62 miles before requiring you to plug it in a socket again.

Moreover, the 4” all-terrain fat tires paired with a stellar dual suspension system ensure that your rides are smooth no matter the terrain. The tires have a wear-resistant texture and an anti-skid knobby tread for maximum traction.

Even though the range of the M1 is truly remarkable for the price point, it had to compensate somewhere to stay within the sub $1000 range. And the trade-off is in performance.

With just 250W of nominal power, the M1 is not the most capable off-roader out there. The motor only allows for a max speed of 18.6mph and doesn’t shoot up hills the way you’d want it to.

The charging time, at 9 hours, is also longer compared to other eBikes in the price range.

But despite these limitations, the Fiido M1 offers a great value for money… and if you’re looking for a folding fat tire eBike under 1000 dollars with a decent range, I’d happily recommend it to you.

  • Range: 25-50 miles (40-80km) max
  • Weight: 61lbs (28kg)
  • Wheel Size: 26”

Pros

  • Powerful motor with 50Nm torque
  • Massive 26×4” all-terrain fat tires
  • Backlit LCD panel to monitor ride
  • Suspension fork for smooth rides
  • Fast charging removable battery

Cons

  • No fenders and rear light

Best Deal

If you’re looking to defeat rugged terrains on a budget, the Macrover 100 can be worth considering.

This affordable all-terrain bike features 26×4” fat anti-puncture, anti-skid tires that can let you explore everything that you previously couldn’t. Be it a jagged hill or a rocky trail, these tires are undefeatable… especially when you add in the shock absorption effect of the front suspension fork.

The biggest downside is that the 36V powertrain is a bit insufficient for hard-core off-roading and for tackling steep inclines (despite 50Nm torque output). But thankfully you have 7-speed gears…

Since the power is lacking, the range is adequate (that’s how the equation works). Other notable features include a backlit LCD panel, a removable battery, and a 3A quick charger.

Pros

  • App control functionality
  • Lightweight build
  • Adjustable seat
  • Powerful 70Nm motor
  • Cruise control feature
  • Ultra-budget tag
  • Streamlined design

Cons

  • No suspension
  • Single speed drivetrain
  • Range drops with weight
  • Unsuitable for tall riders

Best Deal

With a bargain tag of just $490, some of the features present in this Ancheer eBike aren’t available in even $1000 eBikes.

The first thing that makes this eBike stand out is undoubtedly the design. According to Ancheer, the streamlined frame was inspired by the shape of a dolphin to reduce the drag force. It’s a matter of personal opinion but I sure like how it looks – it’s bound to grab the attention of anyone passing by it.

Another thing I find really cool about this eBike is that you can link it with an app for remote configuration.

The app connects with the bike via Bluetooth and allows you to monitor your stats, change settings related to speed control, or diagnose any errors within the eBike. Honestly, this is the kind of stuff you don’t get even in a $1000 eBike!

So what’s the catch? Well, it’s related to who can ride this bike.

The Ancheer 14” is more suited for teens, as the recommended rider height is from 5’1” to 5’10”. Moreover, the weight on the eBike also affects the mileage. The riders weighing around 130lbs or 60kg can expect a max mileage of 20 miles. It’s already low and drops, even more, when the payload is increased.

Another thing I don’t like is that the bike is not really foldable, even though Ancheer claims so. Just the stem is collapsable, which means it hardly changes its size.

However, despite all these limitations, as long as you’re within the height and weight requirements, this eBike can become a great city ride for those who are really, really tight on budget.

It’s perfect for teens and campus students as well!
