Since its inception last year, FunBike has dedicated itself to providing adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts with exceptional all-terrain fat tire electric bikes. The brand has recently unveiled a full suspension fat tire moped-style ebike designed to take on any terrain with ease. Named as the “Monster,” this fat tire ebike combines robust features with exceptional performance and head-turning looks. Let’s have a brief overview of what this bike offers.

Motor & Battery

The FunBike Monster is decently powered when it comes to its motor and battery capabilities. Equipped with a METUO 750W brushless geared hub motor, it packs a punch in terms of raw power and performance… and can be a dependable partner whether on steep hills or on flat terrain. Also, it’s a Class 3 ebike with a top speed of 28 miles per hour.

The Monster’s motor is backed by a 48V 17.5Ah Lithium battery with LG cells. This high-capacity battery ensures an extended riding range of upto 45 miles per charge, and is suitable for both long-distance adventures or for daily commuting. Additionally, the battery is removable and lockable, providing convenience and security for users who may need to detach it for charging or storage.

Brakes & Transmission

Equipped with HD-M500 hydraulic disc brakes, the FunBike Monster offers exceptional stopping power to keep you safe on roads and beyond. It uses 180mm brake rotors to enhance the braking performance, ensure efficient heat dissipation and increase durability for prolonged use. Whether navigating steep slopes, riding at high speeds or traversing any kind of challenging conditions, these brakes allow for quick and controlled stops and have an extremely superior performance compared to mechanical brakes.

In terms of transmission, the FunBike Monster features a 7-speed Shimano derailleur. It allows riders to easily switch between different gear ratios, optimizing their pedaling efficiency and adapting to various terrains. Though 7-speed is nothing special for an ebike at this price tag, it kind of works. Shimano is known for seamless gear changes, durability, and for ensuring a reliable performance throughout any ride.

Tires & Suspension

The FunBike Monster is equipped with 20×4.0″ Kenda fat tires. These wide and knobby tires offer excellent traction and stability, allowing you to confidently navigate through different surfaces such as sand, snow, gravel, or muddy trails. The fat tires also provide enhanced shock absorption, smoothing out bumps and providing a more comfortable ride… whether on off-road trails or through urban environments.

Also, as I mentioned before, the FunBike Monster features a dual suspension system for a smooth and comfy experience. The hydraulic front fork is lockable and adjustable, allowing riders to choose between different riding styles based on their terrain and preference. You can unlock it to get a significant damping function on rough trails, and can lock it to get a more rigid setup when riding on flat roads. The rear shock seems quite stiff and of little use though.

Frame & Accessories

The FunBike Monster has a sturdy 6061 aluminum alloy frame. This material choice ensures excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for various weather conditions. The bike, however, has a total payload capacity of 242lbs, which is shockingly low, especially when you account for its massive 93lbs weight. As for frame geometry, the bike is suitable for riders with heights ranging from 5’5″ to 6’5″.

Luckily, the Monster comes with a range of accessories to enhance your riding experience. It features a giant moto headlamp providing excellent visibility during low-light conditions, dual fenders to help protect you from splashes and dirt, a large seat to offer comfort during extended rides, a sleek LCD panel for ride monitoring, and a bottom storage basket to haul your belongings, groceries, or outdoor gear.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the FunBike Monster offers a lot of features against a price tag of $1,999. With its powerful geared motor, high-capacity LG battery, hydraulic brakes, dual suspension, and appealing aesthetics, it provides a compelling package for riders seeking an exhilarating moped-style electric bike. However, it weighs quite a lot and its load capacity is pathetic, to say the least.
