Oraimo Monster 100 Review: A Cheap & Stylish Ride!

The Oraimo Monster 100 electric bike has a Bafang motor at the rear hub that runs on a 36-volt battery and gives out 350 watts of nominal (and 500 watts of peak) power. The bike has 3 different modes to move: one where you pedal like a regular bike, another where the motor helps you as you pedal, and a third where you use a throttle to go fully electric. When you use the pedal-assist mode, there are 5 levels that you can choose from, and the bike uses a cadence sensor to detect pedaling inputs.

The Oraimo Monster 100 is not the best e-bike when it comes to hill climbing. Going uphill wasn’t easy, especially on hills with over 20 degrees of incline (as the brand says it can handle up to 15 degrees). But it was still not too bad either, thanks to the bike’s 21 speed gears. Having so many gears sure helps the bike perform better on inclines. The RAEV Bullet GT is still the best at going up hills, and I haven’t found a bike that can beat it yet.

When I rode the Oraimo Monster 100 electric bike on a flat and smooth road, I reached a speed of 20mph in around 14 to 15 seconds. Not super fast, but good considering it’s a 350-watt hub ebike. In fact, it’s even impressive considering that the bike costs just $600. Once I hit 20mph, the bike moved at a steady pace and didn’t slow down much. If I had to compare how quickly the Oraimo Monster 100 accelerates to another ebike, I think it felt very similar to the Jasion EB5.

When I tested the bike’s range, I was able to ride around 25.4 miles using both the throttle mode and the pedal-assist mode. The path I took was mostly flat, with a few parts that went uphill. But if you’re looking for e-bikes that can go even farther, you can consider the Aniioki A8 Pro Max or the Bandit X-Trail Pro. Both these bikes have huge batteries that won’t run out easily.

Even though the Monster 100 bike is affordable, the company cared about making it comfortable to ride. The Oraimo branded saddle was quite comfy, and you can even adjust it to fit different riders. Likewise, the handlebar is also adjustable. Since the bike is not heavy, it’s easy to steer and control. And even though the cadence sensor might not be super quick when it comes to detecting your pedal inputs, you really can’t complain about that due to the tag. Also, the front suspension worked quite well to make the ride smoother on bumpy and uneven roads.

The Oraimo Monster 100 e-bike has a front mechanical suspension fork, which makes it possible to ride on uneven paths. However, you cannot adjust the suspension on different kinds of roads. If you’re looking for a bike with dual or adjustable suspension, there are many choices. From the budget e-bikes that I’ve tested, I really liked the suspension on the Engwe Engine X.

The Oraimo Monster 100 electric bike has mechanical disc brakes. I haven’t tested the brakes yet, but I’m impressed with how well they work. Sure, hydraulic brakes are much better, but for the cost of this bike, having disc brakes is still not a bad deal… I mean many bikes in this price range have outdated rim or drum brakes (even Hurley still uses them).

While many budget ebikes have only 7 gears, the Oraimo Monster 100 electric bike stands out with a Shimano 21-speed transmission. This is a big deal… and undoubtedly the most significant highlight of this e-bike.
