The Ancheer electric mountain bike is a super-budget 26” electric mountain bike that combines stylish looks with a number of features. From dual disc brakes to a 21-speed Shimano transmission, the Ancheer ebike provides a great value for just $299!
Ancheer is one of the most popular electric bike brands on Amazon. The brand is known for its affordable lineup of ebikes, all of which offer great features, but the 26” Sunshine electric mountain bike elevates the collection to a totally different level. This ebike is a star and an all rounder – it can be reliably used for riding on both paved roads and beaten tracks, and you’ll never feel that you’re riding on a sub-$300 bike.

Yes, the Ancheer electric mountain bike might not compete with premium or even normally priced eMTBs (obviously, being a budget ebike), but if you take into account its specifications – that range from 21-speed Shimano transmission to a front fork to 26″ knobby tires – you would realize that it is almost impossible to get such a bargain under $300. Despite this super-affordable price, the bike trades off on just one key component, i.e. battery. Let’s have a detailed look at what this bike has to offer.

Performance Review

The Ancheer is designed with a brushless rear hub motor which enables the bike to have a nominal power of 500 watts, a peak power of 750 watts, and a torque output of 50Nm. The bike has 4 ride modes to offer: a cycling mode, a pedal-assist mode, a throttle or pure electric mode, and a cruise mode. The pedal-assist mode further offers 5 levels of assistance and uses a cadence sensor to detect your inputs. The cruise mode is activated when you hold the throttle for 8s

Acceleration

The Ancheer features a 500W brushless hub motor that peaks at 750W and packs 50Nm of torque – which is pretty impressive for a sub-$300 ebike. When I rode the bike on a smooth asphalt pavement, it went upto 20mph in about 17-18 seconds. This is a little slow, but justifiable for a 500W ebike. I also observed that the bike kept a steady pace throughout the journey. If I were to compare the acceleration of Ancheer electric mountain bike to another ebike, I think its performance was quite similar to the Jasion EB5.

Hill Climb

The Ancheer electric mountain bike was fairly capable when I tested it for hill climbing. Although the brand claims that it could ride upto 20 degrees, I found it difficult to ride at such steep inclinations. The bike struggled at slopes which were more than 15 degrees but riding wasn’t completely impossible. The Ancheer’s efficiency at slopes is actually due to its 21-speed gears rather than its 500W motor, as such a wide gear ratio amplifies the torque output. The RAEV Bullet GT remains the most potent ebike at hills, and I haven’t yet tested a bike that can exceed its climbing capabilities.

Braking

The Ancheer electric mountain bike is equipped with dual mechanical disc brakes. I haven’t tested the brakes yet, but during my ride, I found the braking system to be fairly impressive. The hydraulic brakes are best off course, but taking into account the cost of the bike, these disc brakes fairly serve the purpose. And don’t forget that some brands like Hurley still equip their vehicles with rim or drum brakes.

Ride Quality

Along with affordability, rider comfort has been fairly prioritised while designing this ebike. The ride posture is comfortable and the saddle is height-adjustable so that it can be changed according to riders of varying heights. Moreover, since the Ancheer electric mountain bike has a lightweight build, its steering and handling is also top-notch. The power delivery from the cadence sensor may not be exceptionally sensitive, but it’s fair enough for a bike in this budget. Additionally, the massive tires and the front suspension are adequately capable at absorbing shocks from uneven roads… which also contribute to a better ride.

Top Speed

The Ancheer electric mountain bike is classified as a Class 2 electric bike, which means that it can reach a top speed of 20mph under standard wind conditions on a bump-free urban road. This speed is pretty reasonable most of the time, and for most of the people. I could not test the ebike in an unlocked condition. I’ll update the blog if I do that.

Transmission

The Ancheer electric mountain bike has Shimano 21-speed transmission, which is one of the selling points of this bike. It is noteworthy that many other affordable ebikes at this price level come with a 7 speed transmission only. A 21-speed transmission gives you a wider gear ratio, which helps in hill climbing. Moreover, being a Shimano gear set, you can expect effortless transition between gears at all speeds.

Range

Equipped with a 48V 7.8Ah Lithium-ion battery, the Ancheer packs 374Wh of electrical energy. Now this is a very small battery (probably the smallest available size), so you can’t expect to cover a large distance. While testing the bike, I could travel about 13.4 miles using both the throttle mode and pedal-assist mode (highest level of PAS 5).

My test path consisted of both smooth pavements coupled with some inclined patches… and I might have got more range, had I used a lower assist level. Now, this range is obviously insufficient for a majority of riders… but considering the 500W output of the bike and its affordable tag, you can’t expect anything more. All in all, this bike is only meant for short neighborhood runs… and not any longer commutes. But yes, you can always use it like a regular bike too.

Suspension

The Ancheer electric mountain bike comes with a mechanical front suspension fork that helps riders in driving off road and in tackling any bumps in urban streets. While it might not be the best suspension out there, it fairly serves the purpose for a budget conscious rider looking for a versatile urban ride.

Ancheer Electric Mountain Bike

Price

The Ancheer electric mountain bike is offered for $299 on Amazon. Despite this affordable tag, the bike provides a wide range of features such as a 21-speed Shimano gear system, a front fork, knobby 26″ tires, an LCD display, and a bright headlight to name a few. This bike is perfect for budget-conscious riders, considering its various features… and it might be difficult to find a similarly spec’d bike at the given price.

Frame

The Ancheer electric mountain bike has a lightweight and sturdy aluminum frame weighing 50lbs (including the battery). The frame is able to resist weights up to an impressive 265lbs. The bike has a characteristic mountain bike style. The wiring and battery are external but packed in a neat manner, so they don’t look bad. All in all, the bike is fairly stylish and reasonably portable to move around.

Tires

The Ancheer electric mountain bike comes with 26″ tires with a knobby tread design. Now, this is probably the single, most important selling point for this bike… as it’s difficult to find a well-equipped 26″ e-bike in the price range. Just because of their size, these tires can roll over anything to ensure a smooth and capable ride. Also, I found that the tires had great traction regardless of the surface they’re used on.

LCD

The Ancheer electric mountain bike has a sleek LCD placed on the left side of the handlebar. The panel is slim and backlit, which makes it convenient to view various ride parameters at both day and night. It shows the riding speed, the battery status, the assist mode, and more.

Lights

The Ancheer electric mountain bike has a front LED light to illuminate your way ahead when you travel at night. Unfortunately, it has no light at the back (you only have a reflector). Along with the light at the front, the bike also has reflectors on pedals and wheels for extra visibility in the dark.

Battery

The Ancheer electric mountain bike has a removable and lockable 48V 7.8Ah Lithium-ion unit placed on the downtube of the bike. The removable feature makes it easy for the battery to be charged out of frame, at any place you want. The battery gets completely full in 4-5 hours with a regular 2A charger and has an LED light indicator to tell the charging level.

Warranty

The Ancheer electric mountain bike comes with a warranty covering all manufacturing defects in its components for a period of one year including its motor, battery, LCD and fork. For more details on the brand’s warranty policy, please visit their website.

Ancheer 26" Alternatives & Competitors

If you’re looking for more choices, here are two other options that are priced similarly to the Ancheer electric bike.

Ancheer eMTB vs Jasion EB5

The Ancheer eMTB boasts a more powerful 500W motor compared to the Jasion EB5’s 350W motor. This difference in power is reflected in their top speeds, with the Ancheer reaching 20.2 mph and the Jasion slightly lower at 19.2 mph. As for range, both e-bikes offer a limited range due to their small battery sizes. Both e-bikes weigh 50 lbs, making them relatively similar in terms of portability and ease of handling. They also have identical load ratings of 265 lbs.

However, transmission systems differ between the two models. The Ancheer features a Shimano 21-speed (21S) transmission, offering a broader range of gears for tackling various terrains and inclines. Meanwhile, the Jasion EB5 uses a Shimano 7-speed (7S) transmission. The Jasion EB5 offsets this… by a lower price than the Ancheer.

Ancheer eMTB vs Totem Victor 2.0

The Totem Victor 2.0 has a similar-size battery, but it gives more range than Ancheer due to its smaller, more efficient motor. This makes the Totem a slightly better choice for longer rides without the need for frequent recharges.

The Totem is also a lighter option at 46 lbs. In addition to that, both e-bikes feature a Shimano 21-speed transmission, offering excellent versatility for various terrains and riding conditions. However, the Totem Victor 2.0 is priced at $449, which is higher than the Ancheer eMTB’s super budget tag of $299.

Here is a comparison of the 3 e-bikes.

Ancheer eMTB Jasion EB5 Totem Victor 2.0

Load Rating 265lbs 265lbs 250lbs

Price $299 $269 $449

Conclusion

The Ancheer electric mountain bike is highly suitable for budget-conscious rides as it costs just $299. The good part is, the bike doesn’t trade off either features for the budget tag. Thanks to its 26″ tires and 21-speed Shimano transmission, it has a very decent capacity to move uphills… and to tackle any other type of terrain.

Other notable features include a lockable front fork, a backlit LCD, and disc brakes to name a few. The bike is not without its drawbacks though – it misses fenders and rear light and has a very, very limited range due to its small 7.8Ah battery. As I said before, this bike is only meant for short neighborhood runs… and not any longer commutes.

But still, when you sum it all up, it comes out as a great option for the price. If you want to buy this bike, you can find it on its Amazon page below. Also, if you want to see more choices, you can check out these top bikes under $2,000, under $1,000, or under $500.
