Performance Review

The Addmotor M-360 is an ergonomically designed fat-tire electric trike that offers a comfortable riding position for riders with back issues with its semi-recumbent style. It is equipped with a powerful 750W brushless-hub motor in the front wheel and a 48-volt Samsung battery for a longer riding range. The M-360 also features a backrest, 7 levels of pedal assistance, and three riding modes: normal, pedal assist, and electric twist throttle.

Despite having a front-mounted motor, the M-360 still provides a stable ride. This makes it a great choice for seniors who are looking for a safe and easy-to-use electric trike. The M-360 has a top speed of 19 mph, making it ideal for commuting or leisure rides.

Performance Summary

To be tested

Top Speed

The Addmotor M-360 has a top speed of 19 mph, which falls under the Class 2 e-bike designation. This makes it a good choice for riders who want a steady ride. However, it is important to note that when riding the M-360 on curved edges, it is normal for the trike to lean slightly to the side. This is because trikes have three wheels, which makes them more stable than bicycles but also more prone to leaning.

Acceleration

The Addmotor M-360 delivers a smooth and gradual acceleration thanks to its front-mounted 750W motor, which can produce a peak power of 1000W. In standard wind conditions and on a flat surface, I was able to reach a top speed of 19 mph in 14 seconds.

Hill Climb

The Addmotor M-360 has a front-mounted motor, which makes it less capable of climbing steep inclines than trikes with rear-mounted motors. However, it can still climb inclines with up to 12 degrees of slope at a slow pace.

If you are looking for an electric trike that can effortlessly climb steep inclines, you may want to consider a model with a rear-mounted motor, the CityTri E-310 for instance

Range

The Addmotor M-360 features a large 48V 20Ah Samsung battery that is said to offer a range of up to 85 miles on the lowest pedal assistance setting. However, it is important to note that the actual range may vary depending on factors such as the rider’s weight, the terrain, and the level of pedal assistance used.

In my testing, I was able to get a range of about 44 miles on the 7th pedal assist setting on flat terrain. This is still a good range for those looking for extended rides, but it is not as long as the claimed range.

If you’re on the lookout for an electric vehicle with a more dependable and longer range, you might want to check the Bandit X-Trail Pro, which can get up to 120 miles of range with its dual battery.

Ride Quality

The Addmotor M-360 electric trike provides a comfortable riding experience thanks to its backrest and soft saddle. I want to mention that the handlebar can only be adjusted by height, which may be a deal breaker for short-handed riders since it is designed to have a lean sitting position, making it a little harder for them to control the trike.

The M-360 is also agile and maneuverable, making it easy to navigate through tight spaces. However, it is important to note that the trike may lean slightly when turning or cornering at high speeds, which is common for three-wheelers.

Braking

The Addmotor M-360 is equipped with Tektro Aries mechanical disc brakes with 3 x 180 mm disc rotors on each wheel. While hydraulic brakes would have been a better option, the mechanical brakes on this electric trike are still quite manageable, especially considering its top speed of 19 mph.

However, it is important to note that there is no parking brake. This could be a problem when parking on a steep incline, as you would need to keep the brakes engaged to prevent the trike from rolling away.

Suspension

The Addmotor M-360 is equipped with a front Addshox Steel Fork that absorbs shocks and vibrations, providing riders with comfort and excellent cushioning on slight terrain. The suspension provides 80 mm of travel.

If you are looking for a full-suspension trike, the brand also has the Addmotor Soletri M-366X, which has front and rear suspension. This provides even more comfort and cushioning, making it ideal for riding on rough terrain.

It weighs 99.2 lbs, which is considered light for an e-trike, yet it maintains stability while also being exceptionally capable of carrying heavy loads. The trike comes equipped with a waterproof rear storage bag, which is a convenient addition for those who often need to transport items. The M-360 has a load capacity of 380 lbs, making it a great choice for riders who need to carry a lot of cargo.

The M-360 offers a step-through design, which makes it easy to get on and off. It is also the world’s first semi-recumbent electric trike, which provides a more ergonomic and comfortable riding position.

If you are looking for a trike that can carry an additional passenger, you may want to consider the Addmotor Soletri M-366X, which is built for two.

Price

The Addmotor M-360 is priced in the middle range for electric trikes, at $2,999. This makes it more affordable than some high-end trike models. It is important to consider the competitive features that the M-360 offers at this price point. These include a powerful motor, a long-range battery, and a comfortable and ergonomic design.

LCD & Controls

The Addmotor M-360 e-trike comes with a 5-inch LCD display with a USB port. The display provides essential ride information, such as your speed, current range, selected pedal-assist mode, battery capacity, and other relevant ride details. The screen is also visible in bright daylight, which is a rare feature in LCD displays for electric vehicles.

All the necessary controls are thoughtfully arranged on the handlebar for ergonomic convenience. This makes it easy to access the controls while riding.

Battery Pack

The Addmotor M-360 e-trike is equipped with a large 48V 20Ah battery that brags premium Samsung cells. The battery is conveniently positioned under the seat post, which provides balance and weight distribution. A full charge typically takes 8-9 hours.

Tires

The M-360 is equipped with Kendra fat tires, measuring 20 inches in diameter and 4 inches in width. These tires are designed to provide durability and reliability on all types of terrain, from smooth pavement to rugged trails. The M-360’s tire setup is suitable for riders with a recommended height of 5’2″ to 6’2″.

Lights

The Addmotor M-360 e-trike is equipped with a bright 9 lamp beads headlight and an integrated taillight that is powered by the main battery and controlled by the display. These lights provide excellent visibility for riding at night or in low-light conditions.

For added safety, the e-trike also has pedal and wheel reflectors, which help to make the trike more visible to other road users. These reflectors are a standard feature on all Addmotor electric trikes.

Waterproofing

The Addmotor M-360 is equipped with sturdy accessories that can withstand light rain. The rear waterproof storage bag is a convenient way to carry items without worrying about them getting wet. However, it is important to note that the M-360 is not fully waterproof, so it is not advisable to ride it in heavy rain. Doing so could damage the trike.

Warranty

When you buy the Addmotor M-360 electric trike, it includes a warranty that lasts for 1 year and covers almost all parts of the trike, like the front fork, handlebar, seat post, lights, bottom bracket, brakes, gears, throttle, wires, wheels, and motor. The frame is covered for 2 years, and the battery has a warranty for 1 year and 6 months. All Addmotor trikes come with this standard warranty. For more details about what the warranty covers, visit the Addmotor official website.

Additional Accessory

The Addmotor M-360 offers a variety of additional features designed to enhance your riding experience and safety. These include a waterproof storage bag to keep your belongings safe and dry, a backrest for added comfort and support, reflectors on the pedals and wheels to improve visibility to other road users, and an electric horn for signaling to other road users.
