Performance Review

The Vitilan V3 electric bike comes with a 48-volt 750-watt brushless rear hub motor (1000W peak), and can be used in 3 modes: cycling, pedal-assist, and throttle/ pure electric. You can adjust the pedal assistance in 5 levels to choose how much power you need at any point, which makes your ride convenient and efficient. Top Speed

The Vitilan V3 is designed as a Class 3 electric bike, with a top speed capped at 28mph. Although this speed is more than sufficient for almost everything, I couldn’t resist unlocking it. On flat roads and under normal wind conditions, I was able to push the bike to an impressive 31mph. The V3 also has a cruise control feature that you can activate by holding the throttle for 8 seconds.

Ride Quality

The Vitilan V3 ebike prioritizes rider comfort as well. The frame geometry and riding posture are quite decent, while the 4″ fat tires and the front suspension fork help absorb shocks from uneven surfaces and bumps. The V3 also has decent handling and steering. And although the cadence sensor’s responsiveness might not be top-notch, the power delivery is still quite good (for the price point). Moreover, both the saddle and the handlebar are height adjustable for further convenience.

Hill Climb

During my testing, I found the Vitilan V3 to be adequately capable at inclines. The majority of hills I put it through were effortless to climb. However, I did notice that tackling gradients steeper than 20 degrees required some leg assist (even though the brand claims effortless inclines up to 30 degrees). In comparison, the RAEV Bullet GT that I recently tested had immensely superior hill climbing capabilities.

Range

The Vitilan V3 boasts a 48V 13.4Ah (643Wh) Lithium-ion battery fueling the powertrain. During my testing, I managed to travel 21.4 miles on both throttle and pedal-assist (though I used PAS more). Also, I rode the bike on flat urban stretches and a bit of trails that too weren’t particularly steep. Considering the bike’s nominal and peak power output of 750W and 1000W (as well as its super-affordable price), the range is quite reasonable. Acceleration

On flat roads, the Vitilan V3 electric bike showed really great acceleration, thanks to its peak power output of 1000W. I was able to cross 20mph in around 13-14 seconds during my test ride on a smooth asphalt road under typical wind conditions. After the initial burst when I started from rest, the bike maintained a steady pace throughout the ride. In terms of acceleration, I found the performance quite similar to the Engwe M20.

Braking

The Vitilan V3 features 160mm mechanical disc brakes from Filel, which is a totally new brand for me. The brakes have a cut-off feature to stop the motor when the levers are engaged. Though I haven’t yet conducted a brake test, my initial impressions of the bike’s braking performance are good. Yes, I always prefer hydraulic brakes, but given the budget, 160mm mechanical discs are still not a bad deal.

Suspension

The Vitilan V3 electric bike comes with a mechanical front suspension fork to allow for some extent of off-roading capability. This is in contrast to the Engwe Engine X, which features dual suspension. Fortunately, the fork is lockable to accommodate different terrains or rider preferences. Also, the fat tires too help in eliminating bumps and shocks from rough patches, making V3 a fairly comfortable bike for urban use.

Transmission

Like any other budget ebike, the Vitilan V3 uses a Shimano seven-speed chain transmission. Switching between gears was seamless but there was some ghost pedaling at higher speeds, like after 25mph. But that’s not a big deal. I mean it’s common for almost every high-speed ebike that uses 7-speed gears.
